Plain-English guides to every kind of US mortgage

Menu

This privacy policy explains what information The Mortgage Guide Hub (themortgageguidehub.com) collects, how we use it and the choices you have. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean the operators of The Mortgage Guide Hub.

The short version: we collect very little. We do not take loan applications or financial documents. We do not sell or share your personal information.

Information we collect

We collect only what you choose to send us, plus the basic technical data any website host processes.

Technical data processed by our host

The site is hosted and delivered by Cloudflare, which acts as our content delivery network and hosting provider. Like any host, Cloudflare processes IP addresses and basic request information (such as the page requested and the browser type) to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.

Information we do not collect

We do not:

  • take loan applications
  • ask for or collect financial documents, credit reports, Social Security numbers or ITINs
  • run advertising trackers or third-party advertising cookies
  • build profiles about you

Please do not send us sensitive financial or identity documents. If you do, we will delete them.

Cookies and browser storage

We use only essential browser storage to remember your theme preference, your consent choice and your recent searches. Your language is part of the page address, so nothing is stored for it. This information is kept in your own browser and is not sent to us. There are no third-party cookies at launch. Our cookie policy lists each item.

Analytics

We do not use analytics at launch. If we add privacy-friendly analytics in the future, they will load only after you choose “Allow analytics” in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time from “Cookie settings” in the footer.

How we use information

We use the information you send us only to:

  • reply to your message or request
  • send the newsletter, if you subscribed
  • investigate error reports and improve our guides
  • respond to privacy requests and meet legal duties
  • keep the site secure

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (ads targeted at you based on your activity across other websites).

We use a small number of service providers to run the site, such as our host, Cloudflare, and the provider of the email inbox that receives form messages. They process data only to provide their service to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep information

  • Contact messages: only as long as needed to reply to you and handle your request.
  • Newsletter sign-ups: only as long as you stay subscribed. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
  • Data in your browser: kept on your device until you clear it.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, and we keep as little of it as we can. No website can promise perfect security, so please do not send sensitive documents by email or form.

Children

The site is written for adults planning to buy a home. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Delete your personal information
  • Correct information that is wrong
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share it)

California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA). The California Attorney General explains them on its CCPA page. Residents of other states with privacy laws may have similar rights. We extend these rights to all readers, wherever they live.

We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.

Global Privacy Control

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser sends GPC, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. Because we do not sell or share personal information, no extra step is needed.

How to make a request

Visit our data request page for step-by-step instructions. In short, email [email protected] or use the contact form with the topic “Data or privacy request”.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If we add new kinds of data collection, such as analytics, we will describe them here before they start.
